Kara Hughes is a public affairs consultant with two decades experience in public policy, government relations, research and non-profit management. She specializes in helping advocacy groups and non-profit organizations translate broad policy goals into real world action.

Kara served as Director of Economic Development for Senator Hillary Clinton before becoming Executive Director of New Jobs for New York, a non-profit organization designed to promote economic development in New York State. In this capacity, she served as senior advisor to the Chairman, Roger Altman, and the Advisory Board Chair, Senator Clinton. 

Kara has worked as a senior policy advisor on numerous political campaigns, including Hillary Clinton’s historic 2000 Senate race and Jim McGreevey’s campaign for Governor of New Jersey. She was Senior Advisor for City, State & Labor Affairs at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey; Executive Director of the Presidential Forum on Renewable Energy; and Research Director for the United Way of New York.
